LETTER FROM THE EDITORS
“To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.”
-Thomas Campbell
This edition of the Metropolitan Philadelphia Chapter newsletter is dedicated to Soon W. Lee who was an active member of the chapter for many years. Our thoughts and sympathy go out to his family and friends.
Soon retired in 1993 after 21 years as Vice President – Finance at Bryn Mawr Hospital. He served as chapter president in 1984/1985 and was awarded the Frederick C. Morgan Individual Achievement Award at the HFMA Annual National Institute in 1994. This is the highest personal award presented by National HFMA and is designed to encourage the spirit of service to the principles of the Association as fostered by Frederick C. Morgan himself. This award symbolizes Soon’s outstanding contribution to HFMA as a result of substantial activity over the course of his career.

Over the years Soon was the recipient of the Benjamin Franklin Award for outstanding achievement and contributions to the field of healthcare financial management as well as all four of the merit awards in the Founders Merit Award Series which recognizes individual HFMA members for meritorious service at the Chapter level. The series includes the Follmer Bronze, the Reeves Silver, the Muncie Gold and the Medal of Honor.
Soon will be missed by all the people whose lives were broadened thanks to his unselfish giving of his time and talents and his positive outlook on life. His memory will remain strong in our organization.
