SOON WOO LEE
“Soon Lee was a mentor to many people in the healthcare field including to me. When I started taking classes in Medical Coding, he would always ask how it was going and encouraged me to continue. He had a certification in medical coding and thought it was beneficial to healthcare managers to understand the details that are involved and the importance of correct coding. I made it through the nine courses and received my certification in 2007 thanks to his positive encouragement.”

“Soon was truly a scholar and a gentleman. The Philadelphia Metropolitan Chapter was indeed fortunate to have Soon as a member”
Mark Richards
“One characteristic I always remember about Soon was his modesty. Whenever we would meet and greet, and this applies to others I saw him greeting as well, Soon would address you as though you were the most important person there. He would tout your accomplishments to you and all present and deflect his own as though they were not important. All of that came with a great big smile and no shortage of conversation. He was a top health care professional but even a greater person to call a friend. I look forward to seeing him again.”

“Soon, although small in stature, was huge in life ! He was a tremendous mentor to the many lives he touched whether it be through HFMA, his role as professor at Temple, or the executive roles he played at various healthcare organizations. Soon encouraged me to "become the leader that is inside you" by seeking opportunities for public speaking to teach younger HFMA members subjects that they may not be exposed to every day. What a tremendous role model to us all, he provided teaching lessons to the very end. What a great Legacy !!”

“I first met Soon in 1979 when he was the CFO of Bryn Mawr and I was a lowly staff accountant just starting out with Coopers & Lybrand. He was tolerant of our questions but you could always tell he was trying to figure out how sharp you were. I never had a client that asked me more questions than I asked him. As the years passed, it was clear that Soon had an unsurpassed intellectual curiosity. It served him well as both an executive and an educator. He will be sorely missed!! They don’t make them like that anymore.”
