PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Summer is well under way and I sincerely hope our membership is taking the time to enjoy family, friends, and the incredible weather we have had so far.  The 2009 – 2010 year is officially underway.  We kicked this year off with a “New Year in July” happy hour.  Special thanks to our Social Committee Co-chairs, Matt Mustgnung, Matt Killinger, and Rich Niwinski, for coordinating this event.  Over 60 people joined us at McGillin’s Old Ale House to celebrate the new fiscal year.  I would like to take a moment to thank our outgoing President, Betsy Seeber.  Under Betsy’s leadership, our chapter was able to experience significant membership growth, which is incredible given the current economic environment.

Before you know it, summer will be gone and we will be in full swing here at HFMA.  There are a number of events that are happening this fall:

1. We are holding our annual Fall Institute on September 24th at Temple University Health System’s Corporate Offices.  The theme for the day is “Healthcare Reform: Making It Count”.  Like it or not, major changes to our industry are coming.  This event will be a great opportunity to hear the latest information about the upcoming changes and how they will impact your organizations.

2. We are very pleased to again join the NJ HFMA Chapter in offering their 33rd Annual Institute at the Borgota Hotel, Casino, & Spa in Atlantic City on October 14th through the 16th.  Last year’s Institute brought over 500 NJ and Metro Philadelphia members together.  Having personally attended this event in the past, I can tell you that it is an incredible event.  Visit our web-site for more information and for registration information.  I look forward to seeing you there.

3. On October 22nd, we will be holding our “Cost Report and Healthcare Finance Workshop.”  Please continue to check our web-site for details about this event.

4. I am very pleased to announce that we are bringing back our November “Revenue Cycle Seminar”.  This year’s event will be held on November 19th

Our chapter leaders recognize, now more than ever, that access to affordable, quality education is critical.  We are making every effort to reduce our operating expenses so we can continue to offer quality education at affordable prices.  We also understand that we need to think “outside the box” to find new ways to offer quality education that don’t require you to leave the office.  Please continue to check our web-site for information on new educational events that we will be offering, including our FREE “Lunch-n-Learn” Webinars

As always, any and all suggestions for improvement are welcome.  Please feel free to send me an e-mail at tscarcelli@ima-consulting.com, or contact any of our Officers or Board of Directors.

Sincerely,
Tony Scarcelli
