PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Many of you were probably more than happy to bring closure to 2009 given the state of the overall economy and, more importantly, the healthcare economy.  Let’s hope that in 2010 the economy picks up steam.  One thing is certain, given the current administration’s push for sweeping healthcare reform, 2010 will be a very interesting year.  Once again our industry will be forced to adapt to the numerous new challenges we will face.

As a Chapter, we are just past the half way point in our Chapter year.  While we have had a successfully year so far, there is still much work to be done.  Special thanks to everyone who has helped our Chapter with the numerous educational events to date.  Our Program and Education Committee continues to put together top notch “live” programs for our membership.  In addition, they are always looking for new and creative ways to reach our membership.  One of their new initiatives is our “Free” Lunch-n-Learn webinar series.  The Lunch-n-Learn webinars have received very strong reviews from attendees and represent another way for our Chapter to meet the needs of our members who can’t get out of the office for “live” instruction.

As you can imagine a significant amount of planning goes into leading a Chapter of our size (over 900 members).  In fact, the planning for the next Chapter year has already begun.  Your President-Elect, Doug Maier, has already started his planning.  January through March will be a very busy time for your next President.  Doug and I will be working very closely over the next few months to make sure his transition is a smooth one.

Our educational calendar continues to be packed with first class educational opportunities.  Below are the highlights for the remainder of our Chapter year:

  • Our Professional Development program – “Personal Financial Planning in Difficult Economic Times” is scheduled for February 15, 2010.  The program will be held at Houston Hall on Penn’s Campus.  Please continue to check the web-site for details (www.hfmaphila.org).
  • The Spring Institute is right around the corner.  The Institute will be held at The Hub Cira Centre at 2929 Arch Street on March 18th.
  • The Decision Support program is scheduled for April 26, 2010 at Crozer.
  • Last but certainly not least is our Annual Golf Outing.  The outing will be at Paxon Hollow on May 27th and should prove to be a fun day for everyone.
  • Please continue to check our web-site for information on new educational events, including our upcoming FREE “Lunch-n-Learn” Webinars.

As always, any and all suggestions for improvement are welcome.  Please feel free to send me an e-mail at tscarcelli@ima-consulting.com, or contact any of our Officers or Board of Directors.

Sincerely,

Tony Scarcelli
